Death at the Hospital

You need to contact the Funeral Director and let them know in which Hospital your loved passed away.

The Funeral Director will then be in contact with the Hospital. The Funeral Director will call the family to make an appointment to discuss the funeral arrangements.

It is not unusual that the transfer of the deceased from the Hospital will be possible only after a few days when the cause of death has been issued.

Death at the Nursing Home

You need to let the Nursing Home staff know which Funeral Director will assist you.

The Staff will then call the Funeral Director and give them all the information required. The Funeral Director will then contact the transfer team. The transfer of the deceased from the Nursing Home will happen in the next few hours. Staff will arrange for a doctor to issue a Doctor’s Certificate of Cause of Death. After the transfer the Funeral Director will contact the family and make an appointment to discuss the funeral arrangements.

Death at Home

You need to call your loved one’s Doctor who will issue a of Cause of Death, then you can contact the Funeral Director.

The Funeral Director will then inform the transfer team. The transfer of the deceased from the residence will happen in the next few hours. After the transfer, the Funeral Director will contact the family and make an appointment to discuss the funeral arrangements.

If the death occurs at home and was unexpected, call the police and ambulance.

The Police will contact a Funeral Director contracted by the coroner office that will transfer your loved one to the Coroner’s mortuary (depending on the circumstances, the Coroner may be required to conduct a post-mortem to determine the cause of death).

Once cause of death has been determined you can call the Funeral Director and discuss with them the best time to meet and make the funeral arrangements. The Funeral Director will be in contact with the Coroner’s Office. Very often it will take days before it is possible to transfer your loved one to the Funeral Director’s facility.
